About The Position

MercyOne Elkader Medical Center is a 25-bed critical access hospital serving rural communities in Clayton County and surrounding areas. MercyOne is committed to providing quality, personalized, and safe health care close to home. The Registered Occupational Therapist plans, administers, implements, and evaluates occupational therapy for appropriate programs and services within the PM&R department. The therapist provides direct patient care according to department protocol for all age groups, from infants to geriatrics. The position is per diem with varied hours.

Requirements

Registration through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NBCOT).
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
Licensure, or eligibility for licensure, by the State of Iowa to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
Ability to function as an occupational therapist in commonly practiced aspects of patient evaluation and treatment appropriate for the assigned age group.
Ability to give clear instructions to individuals and groups ranging from infants to geriatric patients.
Ability to plan day-to-day activities and work independently.
Ability to put patients at ease and make them comfortable.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with other hospital employees and guests.

Responsibilities

Plan, administer, implement, and evaluate occupational therapy for appropriate programs and services within the PM&R department.
Provide direct patient care specific to each patient age group in accordance with department protocol.
Evaluate and treat patients in commonly practiced aspects of occupational therapy appropriate for the assigned age group.
Give clear instructions to individuals and groups ranging from infants to geriatric patients.
Plan day-to-day activities and work independently.
Help patients feel at ease and comfortable.
Work effectively with other hospital employees and guests.
