About The Position

Buffalo Hearing & Speech is seeking a pediatric licensed Occupational Therapist for a part-time, 10-month position. The therapist will provide home-based and school-based services in West Seneca, Cheektowaga, and surrounding areas, serving students from preschool through potentially high school. The role provides occupational therapy to children and clients of BHSC whose ability to function is impaired by congenital or developmental disability, physical illness, or injury, with the goal of achieving the highest functional outcomes through examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and intervention.

Requirements

Master's degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Council of Medical Education of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
New York State license and registration as an Occupational Therapist.
Thorough knowledge of occupational therapy principles and practices.
Thorough knowledge of clinical practice standards established by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
Ability to demonstrate sound professional judgment and maturity.
Strong technology and computer skills.
Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records.
Ability to operate equipment used in occupational therapy.

Responsibilities

Evaluate therapy needs.
Participate in creating treatment plans and revise them as necessary.
Perform occupational therapy procedures as ordered by a physician or documented on an IEP.
Communicate with the OT/PT manager as appropriate to evaluate patient needs.
Collaborate with the OT supervisor, teachers, parents and families, and other personnel regarding patient care and activities; develop service plans and make recommendations.
Complete paperwork related to patient care, including logs with OT supervisor signatures documenting OT supervision.
Prepare written materials, such as draft evaluation findings, observations, and proposed occupational therapy IEP goals, to document activities, provide written references, and convey information.
Recommend purchases of specialized program materials, supplies, and adaptive equipment.
Travel between multiple sites within the district to provide educational occupational therapy to students and clients.
Participate in formal staff training, continuing education services, and formalized in-service training as appropriate.
Perform other related duties requested by the supervisor.
