About The Position

Vanderbilt Health is hiring a pediatric Occupational Therapist for its Home Health team, serving children and families in Northern Metro Nashville. The therapist provides one-on-one care in patients’ homes, supporting developmental milestones, functional independence, and family-centered care. Patients may include infants, children, and adolescents with prematurity or NICU histories, developmental delays, neurological diagnoses, cardiac conditions, feeding or sensory challenges, genetic disorders, trauma, postoperative orthopedic needs, or medically complex and technology-dependent needs. The role includes occasional guidance and collaboration with the healthcare and educational team to support patient outcomes and system improvement. This is a PRN position anticipated to support a temporary staffing need beginning around May. Depending on patient volume and business needs, it may involve a consistent caseload of approximately three to four days per week, as well as backup and PTO coverage for other occupational therapists before and after the temporary leave. The schedule is Monday through Friday during daytime hours, with flexible scheduling and no weekends or holidays. Typical workloads are four to six visits per day. The position includes hourly compensation, mileage reimbursement, onboarding and clinical support, mentorship, and field resources. Onboarding includes Monday new-hire orientation, EMR training held Mondays and Tuesdays, and approximately three days per week of clinical orientation for six to eight weeks depending on experience, with preceptor support. Field support includes a GPS-enabled safety app, joint visits and co-treatments when needed, and access to managers and experienced clinical leaders for consultation. The therapist evaluates patients, develops and implements individualized treatment plans, provides evidence-based interventions, monitors progress, educates and coaches caregivers, coordinates care with other professionals, and completes timely electronic documentation. The role requires graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program, at least one year of clinical practice with pediatric patients, a Tennessee Occupational Therapist license, CPR certification, and a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation. Pediatric home health, acute care, early intervention, NICU follow-up, developmental pediatrics, pediatric rehabilitation, or related pediatric experience is preferred.
