Provides treatment to patients to facilitate development and rehabilitation of physically, cognitively, or emotionally disabled persons for the purpose of restoring and enhancing functional independence. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. This role involves regularly performing work requiring a high level of interpersonal skills to deal with delicate patient care matters, and produces levels of mental/visual fatigue typical of jobs with a wide variety of duties and frequent, uncontrollable deadlines. Work may involve up to 40% of the time on a personal computer or CRT. It involves regularly lifting of bulky or moderately heavy weights (up to 50 pounds) and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks or expending equivalent effort in pushing, pulling, or handling materials and equipment.
