The Staff Occupational Therapist Assistant assists the Staff Occupational Therapist with resident related activities and direct resident care. This role involves treating residents as directed by the Occupational Therapist, completing timely and accurate documentation, and maintaining a safe treatment environment. The OTA participates in resident care conferences and rehabilitation meetings, assists the nursing department with training Restorative Aides, and communicates routinely with the supervising occupational therapist. They also provide in-services, educate residents and families, and recommend durable medical equipment. Maintaining confidentiality and reporting equipment issues are key responsibilities. The OTA contributes to quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives and must be able to relate positively with residents, families, staff, and colleagues.
