The Staff Occupational Therapist Assistant assists the Staff Occupational Therapist with resident related activities and direct resident care. This role involves treating residents as directed by the Occupational Therapist, completing timely and accurate documentation, and maintaining a safe treatment environment. The OTA participates in resident care conferences and rehabilitation meetings, assists the nursing department with training Restorative Aides, and communicates routinely with the supervising occupational therapist. They also provide in-services on training programs, educate residents and families, and recommend and facilitate the ordering of necessary durable medical equipment. Maintaining confidentiality of resident and company information, reporting equipment issues, and contributing to quality assurance initiatives are also key aspects of this role. The ability to relate positively and effectively with residents, families, staff, and colleagues is essential.
