About The Position
The Occupational Therapist - Acute Care position at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) involves rendering occupational therapy services to an assigned caseload of children. The role also contributes to the advancement of Occupational Therapy practice through education of staff therapists, patients/families, students, and other healthcare providers. Requirements
- Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy Required
- Occupational Therapist (Pennsylvania) license upon hire - Required
- Occupational Therapist (New Jersey) license upon hire - Required
- Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR) - NBCOT upon hire - Required
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification within 3 months - Required
- Demonstrates entry-level skills in OT practice and delivers evidence-based clinical care with mentorship.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy will be accepted for US-educated individuals licensed previous to 2008 and internationally-educated students 2012.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate individuals with complex medical, social, and psychological issues using standardized and non-standardized evaluations.
- Develop individualized therapy plans with measurable goals and objectives, integrating therapy into the family's lifestyle.
- Provide advanced procedural interventions, including adaptive equipment, splinting, and casting.
- Educate family members, caregivers, and team members on therapeutic strategies and accommodations.
- Maintain current skills and knowledge through continuous learning.
- Provide mentorship to students when appropriate.
- Contribute to the Occupational Therapy body of knowledge through presentations and in-services.
- Ensure comprehensive and effective patient care through collaboration with internal and external healthcare personnel.
- Negotiate differences in opinion within a team to reach the best decision for the patient.
- Apply research to practice and promote activities that optimize patient management outcomes.
- Contribute to department policy and procedures, program development, and clinical guidelines.
- Maintain productivity and fiscal responsibility in service utilization.
- Contribute to the development and modification of departmental/hospital systems.
