Amentum is seeking an Occupational Safety & Health Nurse to support their SOS Contract in Pittsburgh, PA. In a small team environment, the nurse will assist in the day-to-day operations of the Occupational Health Unit (OHU). This includes evaluating and caring for patients with occupational and non-occupational conditions, performing various screening occupational health tests, and evaluating their results. The role ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, plans, policies, and procedures for testing performance. Medical testing results must be entered into the medical database, and hard copies provided to employees as requested after physician review. The nurse will assist in assessing programs for regulatory compliance and best medical practices, prepare reports, make recommendations for improvements, and stay updated on occupational health issues and associated laws. Under physician direction, the nurse will provide phlebotomy services, administer immunizations and over-the-counter medications, and perform tests such as vision, pulmonary function (PFT/spirometry), EKG, UA by dipstick, and audiograms for clearances. The role involves determining employees needing entry into health programs (hearing, respirator, medical surveillance, etc.) as part of a team effort. Employee visits, injuries, illnesses, and treatments must be documented in the medical record and database. The nurse ensures testing is performed correctly, results are documented, and injuries are reported as required by company, State, and Federal regulations. Management of workers’ compensation cases and maintenance of case files are also key responsibilities, along with participating in and documenting periodic health inspections. The role requires providing employers/supervisors with appropriate information about medical restrictions while adhering to employee privacy and HIPAA requirements. Referrals for ergonomic evaluations, participation in emergency response drills, and ensuring program response quality are also part of the duties. The nurse will participate in employee training, including CPR/AED/FA training, and provide consultations, wellness education, site tours, referrals, and perform other requested milestones.
