We are looking for an experienced occupational health and safety professional who brings strong knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety practices, as well as the interpersonal skills needed to build trust and influence across a large and complex organization. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, personable team player who can work effectively with staff at all levels. This position requires someone who can analyze complex safety and compliance issues, identify practical solutions, and confidently navigate challenging conversations when safety concerns, regulatory requirements, or organizational priorities may be in tension. This role is not simply about enforcing rules and regulations, it is about educating and building trusted partnerships across the organization to help create a workplace where employees can be safe, healthy, and successful. To administer Ramsey County’s occupational health and safety programs; serve as a countywide resource in OSHA compliance, occupational health, and employee safety. Responsible to develop policy and program strategy, provide guidance to county departments on compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, and perform related duties as assigned. This position is identified under the designation of ‘flex work eligible’, meaning that the employee can formally opt to be in-office full-time or work a flex schedule in which at least two-days per week are performed in office and other days can be performed in a remote-first environment. Regardless of selection, the position carries expectations regarding on-site responsibilities and will require schedule flexibility beyond the minimum expectations set forth in the county’s flexible workplace policy.
