This position is responsible for the overall management and day-to-day operations of Arizona's Department of Occupational Safety and Health (ADOSH), which plays an important role in promoting a safe and healthy workplace for the workforce in the state. Subject to the control and direction of the Commission and Agency Director, the ADOSH Administrator also establishes and implements policy and procedure related to the various sections within ADOSH such as: Compliance (Inspection), Consultation, Administration which includes: Whistleblower and Intake and the Statistics Program. Some of these programs operate under Federal Grants, the management of which are overseen by the ADOSH Administrator. The ADOSH Administrator is also responsible for ensuring that the State's program is at least as effective as the Federal OSHA Program, which is required under the state plan agreement. In addition to the on-going and day-to-day responsibilities associated with this responsibility, the ADOSH Administrator is also responsible for working with and communicating directly (and regularly) with stakeholders, employers and employer organizations, and Federal OSHA, working closely with Federal counterparts to ensure that necessary program changes are implemented, that overall division goals are achieved, and that any noted deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner. With both supervisory and direct responsibilities, the responsibilities are varied and complex, requiring extensive knowledge of Arizona and Federal Occupational Safety and Health law, standards, regulations, rules, directives and interpretation, as well as knowledge of the regulatory framework within which these laws exist. This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.
