About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This role provides administrative and clinical support within an assigned clinic unit. It involves maintaining patient records, coordinating patient services, and acting as a point of contact for medical and nursing staff, patients, and internal and external company contacts. The position also performs clinical duties such as answering telephones, preparing and filing patient paperwork, and ordering and storing supplies. Additionally, the technician performs occupational medicine services within clinic and onsite locations per department workflow.

  • Ability to efficiently operate and maintain sensitive sampling equipment
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • Basic computer knowledge with ability to learn various programs utilized in the provision of care
  • Ability to learn and understand occupational and employee health practice
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to deal with the public in a positive manner

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Associate's degree or three years equivalent work experience is preferred
  • Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP)
  • Medical Assistant (MA)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • Medical Examiners Certification
  • Drug and Alcohol Testing Industry Association (DATIA) Certification
  • Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC)
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Driver's license (Sanford Policy - Category III) may be required depending on department

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and directing patients
  • Relaying information and messages to patients and medical/nursing staff
  • Facilitating communication between Occupational Medicine, Employee Health, and other healthcare providers
  • Maintaining and updating patient health information
  • Assembling, storing, and retrieving patient records
  • Filing test and lab reports within medical records
  • Coordinating patient services by scheduling tests, treatments, and consultations for patients
  • Performing routine testing, sampling, and other technical services to support Occupational Medicine and Employee Health Services
  • Performing hearing and vision screenings
  • Performing drug testing specimen collection
  • Performing breath alcohol testing
  • Performing blood specimen collections
  • Performing other occupational medicine department duties
