About The Position

Reporting directly to the Electric Boat Medical Director, the Occupational Medicine Physician is responsible for the medical and clinical oversight of patient care for Quonset Point and off sites affiliated medical programs of Electric Boat. Ensuring the use of standardized and consistent medical procedures within the clinics to maintain clinical alignment and scope of practice based on evidence based data. The Occupational Physcian will establish and communicate timely directives, best practices, continuing education, regulatory and medical research updates to clinic staff. Develop and monitor annual medical budget, department goals and objectives. Collaborate with key stakeholders, including Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Benefits, Health and Wellness, Workers’ Compensation, Safety, Legal, and site leadership, to ensure the integration of occupational health initiatives into company operations.

Requirements

  • Medical Licenses in RI and CT (required) or ability to obtain.
  • State Narcotic/Controlled Substance license is required (Connecticut, Rhode Island) or ability to obtain.
  • Medical Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Certification in Radiation Health Indoctrination (RHI) status and Medical Review Officer (MRO) or the ability to obtain.
  • Requirements may include working flexible hours including evenings, nights and weekends.
  • Travel for training and company business at off sites may occasionally be required.
  • The ability to obtain a Department of Defense “Secret” Clearance is mandatory.
  • DOT and BAT certification is preferred and willingness to acquire certifications is required.
  • Willingness to obtain other certifications as needed.
  • Current board certification required. Preferably in one of the following disciplines: Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Public Health and General Preventive Medicine or Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
  • CPR (BLS for the Healthcare Provider)

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years’ experience in Occupational and Environmental medicine or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with interpretation of results of EKG, audiometry, drug tests, x-rays, sutures, and spirometry is desired.
  • Knowledge of workplace health, safety, disability, and OSHA regulations.
  • Superior interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
  • Federal DEA license
