Experienced Occupational Medicine APP – (PRN)
About The Position
FirstHealth of the Carolinas is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join their occupational medicine and wellness-focused service on a part-time basis (2-4 shifts per month). This role offers an autonomous practice environment for seasoned professionals comfortable practicing independently. The APP will provide coverage for Troy, Sanford, Southern Pines, and Hamlet locations. The position involves performing pre-placement, routine, and exit physical examinations, diagnosing and treating work-related injuries and illnesses, and advising employees on workplace health, safety, and injury-prevention strategies. The role offers an hourly rate plus paid malpractice with tail coverage.
Requirements
- PA must be a graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program and have NCCPA certification.
- NP must be a graduate of a nurse practitioner education program and have national certification.
- Minimum 3 years of APP experience required.
- Must have a clean background, NC licensure, and NC DEA.
- DOT certification, and AHA BLS certification required.
Nice To Haves
- Prior Occupational Health experience preferred.
- Background in workers comp.
- Working at employer sites.
- Experience conducting veteran exams and/or NC disability exams.
- ACLS preferred.
- CAOHC and NIOSH certifications must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Perform pre‑placement, routine, and exit physical examinations for employees.
- Provide timely and accurate diagnosis, treatment for employees and dependents, and management of work-related injuries and illnesses for employees.
- Advise employees on workplace health, safety, and injury‑prevention strategies.
