About The Position

The Occupational Registered Nurse assesses and treats Corning employees for work-related illnesses and injuries, documents medical history in the EMR, and coordinates necessary medical interventions. This role upholds health & safety standards, maintains confidentiality, communicates effectively with staff and leadership, and keeps Health Services leadership informed of important issues. General Duties & Responsibilities: Daily interaction with employees who need health services. Provide nursing assessments and recommendations to Corning Employees related to illnesses and injuries. Maintain comprehensive documentation and records regarding the treatment of Corning employees in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) or equivalent national regulations, while strictly upholding privacy and confidentiality standards. Manage and implement the site’s medical Emergency Response Program Provide proper guidance through the disability process and interact with insurance carriers, Corning Benefits, Workers’ Compensation, Safety, and the Company Physician/Provider to facilitate processing of work-related illnesses or injuries. Ensure effective case management. Absence management - utilize Corning’s PIIM (post injury and illness management) program by working with Corning’s carrier to enable early safe return to work via appropriate and monitored work accommodations. Performs regulatory required medical surveillance as indicated by the current Occupational Health and Safety Administration or similar country/national standards. Perform medical treatment in accordance with training and licensure. Participate in Corning Health and Safety Programs including participation in the 24/7 Safety & Health initiatives provided by the company (such as smoking cessation, fitness program, blood drive, flu shots, weight watchers). External interaction with medical providers as necessary. Overall responsibility for managing medical inventory. Report to and respond to all Corning Health Services Leadership requirements Ability to read, interpret, and implement Corning Global Health Standards

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years Registered Nurse Experience – Occupational Health Nursing preferred; Emergency room, Intensive Care Unit or Med/Surg nursing experience
  • BSN – bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Current CPR Certification with ability to manage emergency response
  • Understanding how to prevent and manage occupational related injuries.
  • Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment.
  • Self-directed and motivated.
  • Ability to answer calls during off hours to manage emergency incidents.
  • Timely and effectively communication as demonstrated through strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional customer service and time management skills.
  • Great computer skills and EMR utilization
