About The Position

White Oak Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) Manager who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing. This role leads and manages the local Occupational Health staff to deliver excellent service. The NP Manager assesses for, plans, helps implement, and evaluates needs for training and education to enhance the health and safety of our workforce. They work as a partner and resource to the local HR leaders and management with issues related to medical disability and return to work (RTW) programs, and are knowledgeable about FMLA, ADA, and Workers’ Comp regulations. The role performs physical exams/health assessments, diagnoses, and implements therapeutic regimens for workplace injury and illness. They work with the OH RN/NP WC Case Manager to ensure injured workers prompt return to work in modified or full duty. As needed, they perform post-offer medical history/health assessments in accordance with standard of care practices and hospital policies. The NP Manager develops/revises policies and procedures to support employee health functions and meeting regulatory compliances. They work collaboratively with multi-disciplines to achieve the campus OH and system’s goals, and with management to enhance HCW safety and hazard elimination (HEP), injury investigation, root cause identification, and reduction in frequency and cost. This role supports and ensures execution of all Occupational Health programs initiatives. They monitor, trend, and analyze injury data and report quarterly to entity Directors and VPs, as well as Safety and IPAC committees. The NP Manager manages the annual mandatory TB Testing, Fit testing, Flu and other HCW immunizations and medical surveillance programs, as per CDC guidelines. They manage campus WC cost and implement strategy to reduce frequency and cost per campus Hazard Elimination Annual Plan (HEP), and monitor supply utilization. They work with the RN/NP WC Case Manager to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the worker’s compensation program and claim management. The NP Manager oversees/manages the proper maintenance of the OSHA logs and ensures OSHA log 300 A Summary is signed by the CEO and published at the end of each January, as per regulation. They are a member of the local emergency response team and manage the entity HCW screening during an emergency event as per policy following guidance from the Incident Command Center and the Health Department. The role provides occupational health services for physicians and other contractual services as needed and ensures that practice adheres to Nurse Practitioner-Physician collaborative agreement as well as AHC Occupational Health policies. Requirements

  • BSN, MSN.
  • A registered Nurse licensed in the State of Maryland is required.
  • ANCC or AANP Certified as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner in Maryland.
  • 3-6-year NP experience.
  • CPR Certified by the American Heart Association.
  • Must be approved/credentialed as a staff affiliate by the Medical/Dental staff.
  • Ability to diplomatically work with employees and medical staff regarding occupational health or WC-related issues.
  • Good PC skills including Internet, email, and Windows environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Occupational Health, Case Management, or experience in occupational health nursing or related field preferred.
  • Office management preferred.
  • Experience with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Skype, and Workday preferred.
