About The Position

The Occupational Associate Safety Manager will implement, execute, and ensure compliance with Pepsi - North American Beverages EHS policies and procedures, and all federal, state, and local OSHA/EPA/DOT regulations. This role involves managing the local EHS budget, leading the development and implementation of EHS Annual Operating Plans and EHS Action Plans, and achieving annual targets for safety and environmental metrics. The position requires developing and managing strategies to prevent workplace injuries and environmental incidents, demonstrating strong employee relations, problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills, and acting as a change leader to drive continuous improvement in safety performance. Responsibilities also include conducting EHS activities such as training, auditing, and assessing compliance, performing risk assessments, identifying and correcting unsafe conditions, and completing root cause analyses for incidents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and /or Environmental or Safety degree with greater than 5+ years of EHS work experience
  • Solid working knowledge of EHS regulatory compliance
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills including public speaking skills and presence in meetings and training environments
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills use PC and related software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) handle multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines
  • Ability to make and deliver training presentations work collaboratively with colleagues to create a results driven.
  • Team oriented environment maintain confidentiality make independent decisions
  • Functional EHS knowledge in regulatory requirements, EHS technical aspects (safety, industrial hygiene, environmental regulatory management, risk management, behavior-based safety, training, regulatory agency enforcement
  • Displays strong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Strong project management skills including financial responsibility, budgeting, scheduling, vendor management, execution and start-up/commissioning, managing multiple concurrent projects/programs.
  • Demonstrates professional maturity and ability to act as a change leader.
  • Understands and can articulate environmental regulations.

  • EHS management experience in a related industry, including consumer packaged goods, distribution/transportation, manufacturing or grocery industry
  • Knowledge and experience with EHS Management systems and their deployment
  • EHS auditing work experience
  • 3 - 5 years of increasingly responsible work experience in the safety or environmental field.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, execute, ensure compliance with the Pepsi - North American Beverages EHS policies and procedures, and all federal, state, and local OSHA/EPA/DOT regulations (i.e. Lockout, Haz Com, Machine Safety, SARA, RCRA, etc.)
  • Manage local EHS budget
  • Lead the development and implementation of the EHS Annual Operating Plans and EHS Action Plans for the location
  • Achieve annual targets rates for Lost Time, Recordable, Severity, and Environmental
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state occupational safety and environmental regulations
  • Develop, implement, execute, and manage strategies to prevent workplace injuries, environmental incidents
  • Demonstrate solid employee relations experience, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • Display strong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills
  • Demonstrate professional maturity and ability to act as a change leader by influencing all levels of the organization to drive continuous improvement in safety performance
  • Conduct EHS activities such as training/auditing/assessing to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory agency requirements, Zero Zone Management System standards, Emergency Response and internal PepsiCo EHS procedures
  • Perform risk assessments and assist in the implementation of effective physical and/or behavioral control measures. Recognize and verify the effectiveness of in-place control measures
  • Identify unsafe equipment operation and conditions while demonstrating knowledge of appropriate corrective action for unsafe conditions or equipment use
  • Exercise a leadership, coordination, and communication role with the location leadership to drive continuous EHS improvement across the location
  • Complete root cause analyses and develop corrective action plans to address root basic causes and management system weak-spots through the use of industry-recognized cause analysis techniques
