About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is a collaborative health care organization focused on improving patient care and the lives of Arkansans through its unique combination of education, research, and clinical programs. This position, referred to as the Radiation Safety Coordinator, works under general supervision and is responsible for the administration of the Radiation Safety Program for the Campus. The role is governed by safety regulations and institution policy and requires responsiveness for emergency situations on nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in environmental sciences, chemistry, safety, industrial hygiene, physics, nuclear medicine or a related field with 3 years of experience in occupational health and safety or a related field -Or- Associates degree in environmental sciences, chemistry, safety, industrial hygiene, physics, nuclear medicine or a related field with 5 years of experience in occupational health and safety or a related field
Computer competency
Ability to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting items up to 50 lbs. unassisted
Ability to maneuver 55 gallon drums using a hand truck or drum dolly
Medically qualify to wear a respirator and other protective equipment, as needed
Frequent exposure to hazardous chemical and radioactive wastes
Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment

Nice To Haves

Administration experience
OSHA’s Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response standard (HAZWOPER) 40 Hour initial training with an 8 hours annual refresher
CPR/AED Certified (must be obtained within 12 months of hire, training provided by UAMS)
