About The Position

The OB Technician performs duties in the care of patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This role provides care for patients and their families across the life span, considering age-appropriate physical, psycho-social, educational, and safety needs. Responsibilities include direct patient/family contact, departmental duties, material management, communication, and departmental housekeeping. The OB Technician follows department standards and recommended practices and is responsible for scrub duties during cesarean section deliveries and occasional vaginal deliveries.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certified Nursing Assistant.
• Maintain American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS.
• Must possess current cognitive knowledge in medical terminology and abbreviation.

Nice To Haves

• 1 year of previous Direct Patient Care experience in a Healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties in the care of patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Provides care for patients and family/significant others across the life span based on physical, psycho-social, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of patients served in the patient care unit.
• Responsibilities will include direct patient/family contact, departmental duties, material management, communication and departmental housekeeping.
• Follows and understands the standards and recommended practices according to department standards.
• Responsible for scrub duties assigned for cesarean section deliveries as well as occasional vaginal deliveries.
