OBGYN Hospitalist - Practice Medical Director
About The Position
We are launching a brand-new OB-GYN Hospitalist program at Sequoia Hospital and are seeking an experienced OB-GYN Hospitalist Medical Director to lead the development and long-term success of this program. This is a rare opportunity to build a service line from the ground up while shaping clinical excellence, team culture, and operational strategy. As Medical Director, you will serve as the clinical leader and architect of this new OB-GYN Hospitalist program. You will partner closely with hospital leadership and Stanford-affiliated specialists to ensure a high-performing, collaborative, and patient-centered service.
Requirements
- Board-certified OB-GYN
- Active California license (or ability to obtain)
- Minimum of 5+ years of clinical experience
- Prior leadership experience strongly preferred
- Passion for building programs, mentoring providers, and driving clinical excellence
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight for the OB-GYN hospitalist team
- Lead program development, including workflows, protocols, and team culture
- Drive quality improvement, patient safety, and performance metrics
- Collaborate with hospital administration, nursing leadership, and community OB/GYNs
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and mentorship of hospitalist providers
- Ensure compliance with clinical standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices
- OB and GYN triage and surgery
- Labor & delivery management
- Obstetric and gynecologic emergencies
- Inpatient consults
