About The Position

Outagamie County is seeking a Part Time Nutritionist to join their team. Reporting to the Aging Supervisor, this role is responsible for all tasks requiring a Nutritionist for their Meal Sites and facilitating the recruitment and management of volunteers. This is a 30-hour per week position that involves working with Mealsite Locations, participants, and staff throughout Outagamie County. The ideal candidate will possess strong nutritional knowledge, the ability to build positive relationships, and a commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care tailored to the unique needs of participants.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Dietetics, Nutritional Sciences, or a related field.
  • Serv Safe certification accredited by the American National Standards Institute - Conference for Food Protection (must obtain and retain).
  • Valid driver’s license (must possess and maintain).
  • Familiarity and sensitivity to the needs of older persons and persons with disabilities.
  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively with others, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound judgments.
  • Ability to perform duties in a dependable manner.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to oversee and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to follow instructions and be flexible.
  • Ability to maintain Nutrition Program confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Dietitian (CD), Registered Dietician (RD), Registered Dietician Nutritionist (RDN), Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered or Dietetic Technician, Registered Nutrition and Dietetics Technicians, Registered (NDTR) or Dietetic Technicians, Registered (DTR).
  • Any combination of well-rounded education and experience in the major areas of dietetic practice.
  • 2 years of food service experience.
  • 2 years of volunteer management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing, approving, and performing nutritional analysis of menus to ensure they meet WI Aging Network Policy Manual dietary requirements.
  • Assisting with quality and quantity meal production and customer satisfaction by collaborating with program staff and food providers on preparation techniques and portioning.
  • Collaborating with the Aging Services Supervisor on Nutrition Program issues and concerns related to meal service operations.
  • Overseeing nutrition education programs and curriculum to meet requirements.
  • Coordinating nutrition education presentations and/or events for participants.
  • Promoting and engaging Nutrition Program staff and volunteers in Congregate meal site social, recreational, and educational activities.
  • Conducting bi-annual training for Nutrition Program staff and volunteers.
  • Ensuring Congregate and Home Delivered meal service operations meet state food safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Increasing staff and volunteer knowledge about Nutrition Program requirements and quality improvement methods.
  • Conducting routine Congregate meal site inspections and recommending/monitoring meal service improvements.
  • Distributing Nutrition Program educational materials, such as newsletter articles, brochures, participant contribution campaigns, and volunteer recruitment information.
  • Training Nutrition Program staff to identify participants at nutritional risk.
  • Coordinating, referring, and/or providing nutrition counseling services to individuals identified as high nutritional risk.
  • Recruiting, screening, registering, training, and retaining volunteers for Nutrition Program Congregate and Home Delivered meal services.
  • Recording and maintaining administrative accounting of volunteer recruitment activities.
  • Representing the Outagamie County Nutrition Program through drafting press releases, public presentations, and attending exhibit fairs.
  • Drafting, distributing, and collating annual Nutrition Program Volunteer Satisfaction surveys.
  • Planning and orchestrating the annual Volunteer Recognition event, including securing facilities, entertainment, keynote speakers, in-kind contributions, and distributing invitations.
  • Documenting the Volunteer Recognition budget and activities.
  • Ensuring all required initial and annual in-home assessments for home-delivered meal participants are completed according to WI Aging Network Policies and Procedures.
  • Performing other assigned duties.
