About The Position

The Nutrition Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and participating in the preparation of breakfast and lunch meals, managing inventory, supervising staff, and ensuring food safety standards are met. This role involves daily operational tasks, record-keeping, financial duties, and assisting with special dietary needs. The position is for the 2026-2027 school year and begins on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, for 205 days.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience in high quantity food service management
  • ServeSafe certification required within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Open and unlock facility, start all equipment, and check/log equipment temperatures for food safety.
  • Set up the cafeteria and kitchen for the day and perform final close down daily to ensure safety guidelines are met.
  • Perform data entry and maintain records, including creating and maintaining preparation lists, signage, and production records to limit waste/cost.
  • Handle email communications and follow-ups.
  • Oversee and participate in the preparation of breakfast (30-125 meals/day) and lunch meals (300-800 meals/day) and various a la carte items.
  • Perform food preparation tasks such as washing produce, cutting, mixing, temping foods, preparing frozen food for cooking, and labeling food.
  • Record production information on the production sheet.
  • Cook foods using commercial ovens, steamers, warmers, microwaves, kettles/skillets.
  • Monitor the serving area to prevent theft.
  • Ensure food safety, including temperature checks, routine equipment maintenance, and proper cleaning/sanitizing.
  • Manage inventory, create orders, and receive deliveries.
  • Code delivery invoices.
  • Verify cash deposits at the end of the day.
  • Perform cashiering, money handling, end-of-day PrimeroEdge duties, and handle parent negative balance calls.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, development, delegation of duties, and training for staff (approximately 4-7 members).
  • Provide daily feedback, documentation, and cross-training on equipment/duties.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and provide input in site hiring decisions.
  • Assist the Dietitian with Special Diets, including reviewing menus and guidelines, reading food labels, and ordering special diet foods.
  • Prevent cross-contact and ensure safe food for service.
  • Communicate with the Dietitian, parents/guardians, nurses, and teachers/building staff regarding student needs.
  • Approve assigned kitchen staff’s time and attendance.
  • Ensure compliance with monthly supervisor meetings, monthly safety training, USDA posting requirements, and preparation for state and health inspections.
  • Manage WeeCares food service program, where applicable.
  • Perform end-of-year inventory and close kitchens for the summer.
