About The Position

The Nutrition Services Attendant assists in providing high-quality food and nutritional care to hospital patients and guests. The role takes and delivers meal orders in person from patients and family members and by phone in an office setting. The attendant visits patients at their bedside to help with menu selections, gather dietary preferences, and clarify allergies; maintains accurate computerized diet records; and performs tasks related to setting up and serving patient meals. The position coordinates nutrition needs and services for patients, visitors, caregivers, and the healthcare team.

Requirements

• Ability to use computers and learn specialized computer software, including Epic and CBORD.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly, accurately, and effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and guests professionally and politely, take meal orders according to assigned diet orders, and serve meal trays and supplements.
• Act as a liaison between patients and a Registered Dietitian when patients have questions or concerns about their diet, supplements, or snacks.
• Stay up to date on menu items, special diet restrictions, and food preparation, and describe items to patients and guests.
• Maintain visibility on nursing units.
• Conduct floor inventory and general cleaning, and perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain accurate computerized diet records and perform tasks related to patient meal setup and service.
