About The Position

As a Nutrition Services Aide at Encompass Health, you will help prepare therapeutic and modified diets for patients and create meals for employees, visitors, and special functions. You will support patient well-being by preparing and assembling food according to menus, specific diet instructions, and requests. The role also includes maintaining food temperatures, delivering trays and supplements, assisting patients with menus, and cleaning and sanitizing assigned areas. The position may require work on weekdays or weekends, and evenings or night shifts, if needed.

Requirements

• Possess a food handler's permit if mandated by state or county regulations.

Nice To Haves

• Training in food preparation for therapeutic diets.
• Recent institutional cooking experience and special function cooking experience.
• Knowledge of food safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proper temperatures for hot and cold foods.
• Interpret written recipes and follow written or verbal orders, requests, and instructions.
• Break down carts and remove scraps from patient trays.
• Assemble and deliver late patient trays, supplements, nourishments, and special requests as needed.
• Portion, weigh, and garnish food according to menus and specific diet instructions.
• Assemble patient trays to meet timetables.
• Assist patients in completing menus.
• Clean and sanitize assigned areas.
• Organize, plan, and manage time effectively to complete assignments.
