About The Position

The Nutrition Assistant supports the Nutrition Department by ensuring patients are cared for during treatment according to their dietary needs and restrictions. The role may include a variety of food service duties depending on facility needs. The position requires compassionate service, teamwork, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting the department’s sanitation and cleaning standards.

Responsibilities

• Use appropriate sanitation techniques to support infection control.
• Sanitize work areas and carts before and after use with approved disinfectant; clean spills and leave work areas neat.
• Use proper sanitation practices when preparing food, including wearing gloves and avoiding touching the face or hair.
• Complete assigned cleaning tasks thoroughly and on schedule, and keep areas clean and organized.
• Sign off on the daily checklist after completing assigned tasks.
• Report to work well-groomed, wearing a clean, neat uniform and proper hair covering.
• Wash hands frequently during the workday.
• Work with team members to serve customers and patients in a timely manner.
• Assemble supplies and equipment needed for assigned work.
• Maintain knowledge of hospital and department policies, procedures, and general information.
• Help ensure patients are cared for according to their dietary needs and restrictions.
• Perform food service duties as needed based on facility needs.
