The Nutrition Assistant II will work closely with members of the culinary department to ensure that residents receive the proper diet and food items. The Nutrition Assistant II is also responsible for auditing meal tickets, food stock, and kitchen sanitation. The role requires strong customer service skills with patients, families, and clinical/culinary staff, and the ability to share information with the team regarding patients’ status. Effective communication and collaboration with patients, families and staff, conveying respect and professionalism, are essential. High attention to detail is needed to ensure menus/diet orders are appropriately completed and accurately entered into the computer system, and to ensure tray accuracy. The assistant must be able to multitask and concentrate on fine detail with frequent interruptions, work independently with minimal supervision, exercise initiative, seek additional tasks and projects from the supervisor, accept assignments readily, recognize problems independently, and work toward improving systems and procedures. Maintaining confidentiality of patient information is also a key aspect of the role.
