About The Position

This position is for a Nursing Supervisor in the Labor and Delivery department at Texas Health Dallas. The department is focused on the experience of all who enter the hospital, promotes family-centered care, and is supportive of the patient’s vision of the Labor & Delivery process. The hospital, Texas Health Dallas, has been a leader in healthcare in North Texas for over half a century. It is an 875-bed, Magnet-designated, full-service hospital serving the Dallas community since 1966. The hospital specializes in cancer care, cardiology, neurosciences, women’s services, and emergency medicine. It is also a renowned Level III neonatal intensive care unit, a Comprehensive Stroke and Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, and provides wellness services, outpatient surgery, and women’s imaging services. Texas Health Dallas is a Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Care Center, a Level I Trauma Center, a Cycle IV Chest Pain Center, and a designated Magnet hospital.

Requirements

Associate's Degree Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required
2 Years experience as a clinical nurse with previous experience as a charge nurse or similar leadership role (i.e. Charge nurse, committee chair, preceptor) required
RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
NRP – Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program required within 90 days of hire
IFM - Intermediate Fetal Monitoring if newly hired with experience in perinatal nursing and never taken IFM 6 Months Req
IFM - Intermediate Fetal Monitoring if no experience in perinatal nursing 18 Months
ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support required within 90 days of hire
NRPA – Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program required within 90 days of hire
CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days Req

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
Charge RN experience in Labor & Delivery highly preferred

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Leadership, UBC, and appropriate team members to establish, implement, and monitor department policies/procedures, facilitate unit goals, evaluate and individualize patient care and provide direction to staff to promote quality outcomes.
Engage staff to promote evidence based practices within the unit.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and regulatory requirements for compliance.
Provide bedside leadership and clinical expertise to improve quality of patient care.
Provide safe direct patient care in coordination with other staff when unit activity dictates.
Provide guidance in emergency or complex situations.
Use appropriate methodology consistently for communication handoffs.
