About The Position

This opportunity is for a full-time (36-hours per week) day shift Nursing Supervisor (RN). The position offers full benefits, competitive base pay, generous shift differential, and a schedule of either: Monday & Wednesday plus every other Saturday & Sunday 6:45am - 6:45pm, or Tuesday & Friday plus every other Saturday & Sunday 6:45am - 6:45pm. Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services (OVBHS) is a 164-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in the beautiful Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Old Vineyard features individual units for adolescents, adults, and seniors, and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. On average, over 10,000 patients receive care from our compassionate health care team each year at Old Vineyard. We are passionate about our work and looking for others who share in our passion.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing. BNS preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum one (1) year in psychiatric nursing.
  • Knowledge of current nursing procedures, the nursing process, medications and their correct administration.
  • One (1) year of nursing supervision experience required.
  • Current NC State Licensed Nurse (or compact state)
  • AHA CPR & First Aid
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, teaching and supervisory skills.
  • Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, and interventions with patients.
  • Ability to accurately administer medications and treatments.
  • Ability to monitor and record response and side-effects to medications and treatments.
  • Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures.
  • Ability to assist with education of patients and families in medication and care management.
  • Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Knowledge of human behavior or principles of psychology including therapeutic relationships & processes, age specific growth & development, limit setting, crisis & behavior management.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the delivery of quality nursing care for all patients on all units during their assigned shift.
  • Adjusting staffing as necessary for the evening, night and weekend shifts.
  • Overseeing all unit activities including, but not limited to, admissions, discharges, crisis intervention, restraint and/or seclusion and relieving for break or meals.
  • Managing the Registered Nurses and Mental Health Technicians working on the unit as part of the nursing team.
  • Provides medication for the nursing staff when the Pharmacy is closed.
  • Reports employee performance and/or relations issues to appropriate Nursing Services Manager.
  • Coordinating all medical codes, whether real or mock, and ensure they are carried out appropriately and safely.
