About The Position

Franklin General Hospital is seeking an experienced, collaborative Nursing Services Director to lead nursing operations across Medical/Surgical, Swing Bed, Emergency Department, and Outpatient Infusion/Wound Care services. The director organizes, manages, and directs patient care services within assigned departments, working closely with the Chief Nursing Officer to support clinical excellence, staff development, quality improvement, operational performance, and patient-centered care. The director serves as a role model for nursing professionalism and the hospital’s values.

The role supervises nursing personnel and supports departmental planning, budgeting, staffing, productivity, and performance management. It collaborates with providers, department leaders, and the Quality Director to improve patient outcomes and service excellence. The director may provide direct patient care as needed to support staffing requirements.

Requirements

• Current Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
• Strong clinical, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Commitment to patient-centered care, staff development, and quality improvement.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Progressive nursing leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for Medical/Surgical, Swing Bed, Emergency Department, and Infusion/Wound Care services.
• Supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate nursing personnel.
• Support quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and patient advocacy initiatives.
• Assist with departmental planning, budgeting, staffing, productivity, and performance management.
• Promote a positive work environment and strong interdisciplinary relationships.
• Ensure adherence to hospital policies, infection prevention standards, OSHA requirements, and best practices.
• Collaborate with providers, department leaders, and the Quality Director to improve patient outcomes and service excellence.
• Respond effectively to operational and clinical challenges, including emergency situations.
• Provide direct patient care as needed to support staffing requirements.
