Nursing Professional Development Specialist - General Intensive Care Unit
About The Position
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Nursing Professional Development Specialist for the General Intensive Care Unit. This role promotes professional development application of nursing clinical expertise in specified patient populations. The specialist serves as an expert clinician and clinical resource to staff, acting as a mentor to develop staff from beginner to expert status. They critically analyze care delivered against evidence-based practice standards and seek ways to improve outcomes. This position is accountable for defined aspects of staff development, continuing education, and professional development of nursing staff. The role involves leading, facilitating, and/or participating in interprofessional quality initiatives, implementing evidence-based nursing practices, shared decision making, and other educational plans and activities. This position will primarily support the General ICU with overlap for IMCUs.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Nursing- MSN (Required)
- Registered Nursing License (Required)
- BLS, ACLS and PALS (Required)
- Minimum of 3 years relevant nursing experience
