SCOPE OF POSITION: The Nursing Manager supervises and coordinates activities of nursing personnel on all units on the assigned shift, ensuring consistent quality care is provided to all residents/clients. The Nursing Manager also provides physical and psychological support for residents/clients. The Nursing Manager is a vital part of our cohesive team that oversees all licensed personnel, including Unit Managers, who provide health care and nursing services on their assigned shift. As part of the Nursing Leadership Team, the Nursing Manager actively engages with employees and residents through making rounds (ensuring that continuity of care is provided, promptly identifying/responding to changes in residents’ condition, identifying areas to improve services, and observing/supporting employee activity), ensuring appropriate equipment/supplies are available for staff, visiting any new admissions daily, reviewing weekly Skin Integrity Reports with Unit Managers, collaborating with staff regarding plan of care, participating in survey inspections, and responding to emergency situations. In this leadership-oriented position, the Nursing Manager is also responsible for participating in new employee orientations, quality improvement activities, completing performance reviews for Unit Managers, completing medication pass reviews with staff, and attending any mandatory meetings/educational programs.

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a valid, unencumbered LPN license; RN license preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years full-time or equivalent experience in a Long Term/Acute Care setting with a minimum of two (2) years in a management, supervisory or administrative capacity.
  • IV certified and/or willing to become IV certified within six (6) months in position.
  • CPR certified.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency skills with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must have a solid working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records systems.
  • Must have good interpersonal relations with proven communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with Time and Attendance software systems is necessary.
  • Must be able to cope with frequent interruptions and managing multiple, competing priorities.
