About The Position

Rural Staffing Services partners with rural hospitals, clinics, public hospital districts, long-term care organizations, and community healthcare systems throughout Washington to identify experienced nursing leaders who understand the unique needs of rural care. We are currently connecting with professionals who may be interested in active and upcoming nurse manager, nursing supervisor, house supervisor, director of nursing, and related nursing leadership opportunities across Washington. These opportunities may be available within Critical Access Hospitals, community hospitals, Rural Health Clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers, public hospital districts, skilled nursing facilities, long-term care organizations, and integrated rural healthcare systems. In rural healthcare, nursing leaders are often among the most visible and trusted people in the organization. They support frontline employees, help maintain safe staffing, strengthen communication, solve problems in real time, and ensure patients receive dependable care regardless of the hour or circumstance. Rural nursing leadership requires flexibility, sound judgment, compassion, and the ability to build trust across departments. Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure or eligibility for Washington licensure
  • Progressive nursing experience
  • Previous leadership experience as a nurse manager, supervisor, house supervisor, director, or comparable nursing leader
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience supporting staffing, scheduling, employee development, or nursing operations
  • Knowledge of quality, patient safety, regulatory requirements, and nursing standards
  • The ability to remain calm, visible, and supportive during challenging situations
  • Experience with rural hospitals, Critical Access Hospitals, public hospital districts, clinics, long-term care, or community healthcare organizations
  • Relevant education and certification based on the specific position
  • A collaborative, practical, and relationship-focused leadership style

Responsibilities

  • Providing daily leadership and support to nursing teams
  • Overseeing staffing, scheduling, patient flow, and nursing operations

  • Monitoring quality, safety, documentation, and patient-care standards
  • Developing and maintaining nursing policies, procedures, and workflows
  • Supporting regulatory readiness, surveys, audits, and corrective action plans
  • Participating in recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and workforce planning
  • Helping improve communication between shifts, departments, and leadership
  • Supporting patients, families, and employees during difficult or unexpected situations
  • Helping ensure nursing services remain stable and available to the community
