About The Position

These roles are crucial in supporting frontline employees, maintaining safe staffing, strengthening communication, and ensuring dependable patient care in rural settings. Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure or eligibility for Vermont licensure
  • Progressive nursing experience
  • Previous leadership experience as a nurse manager, supervisor, house supervisor, director, or comparable nursing leader
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience supporting staffing, scheduling, employee development, or nursing operations
  • Knowledge of quality, patient safety, regulatory requirements, and nursing standards
  • The ability to remain calm, visible, and supportive during challenging situations
  • Experience within rural hospitals, Critical Access Hospitals, clinics, long-term care organizations, or community healthcare settings
  • A collaborative, practical, and relationship-focused leadership style

Responsibilities

  • Providing daily leadership and support to nursing teams
  • Overseeing staffing, scheduling, patient flow, and nursing operations
  • Supporting safe, high-quality, patient-centered care
  • Mentoring, coaching, and developing nurses and nursing supervisors
  • Strengthening employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture
  • Responding to staffing concerns, clinical issues, and operational challenges
  • Supporting orientation, education, competency, and professional development
  • Collaborating with physicians, executives, department leaders, and support services
  • Monitoring quality, safety, documentation, and patient-care standards
  • Developing and maintaining nursing policies, procedures, and workflows
  • Supporting regulatory readiness, surveys, audits, and corrective-action plans
  • Participating in recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and workforce planning
  • Helping improve communication between shifts, departments, and leadership
  • Supporting patients, families, and employees during difficult or unexpected situations
  • Helping ensure nursing services remain stable and available to the community
