The Nursing House Supervisor (HS) is responsible for participating, observing, and acting as a resource to staff for patient-related clinical, service, and systems problems. This role collaborates with physicians and other managers to ensure optimal patient care and effective utilization of resources. The supervisor also acts as a patient advocate, responds to patient and visitor concerns, and initiates investigations into patient incidents and medication errors. They assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and serve as a liaison to ensure quality care processes are in place. Additionally, the House Supervisor responds to public relations issues, intervenes in situations that threaten life or health in the absence of safety officers, and performs patient positioning and transporting duties. This role requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, understanding growth and development principles and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
