About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as House Supervisor for a behavioral health hospital in Belle Mead, New Jersey. This position serves as the senior clinical and operational resource during assigned evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts. The House Supervisor provides hospital-wide oversight, supports nursing staff, coordinates patient flow, responds to emergencies, and makes independent clinical and operational decisions when senior leadership may not be onsite. The House Supervisor is responsible for maintaining safe and effective hospital operations during assigned shifts. This individual will coordinate patient placement and admissions, support clinical teams, respond to emergency situations, address staffing and operational issues, and collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, case management, and other departments. The ideal candidate is an experienced RN who is comfortable functioning as a senior clinical resource and making decisions independently in a behavioral health environment.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing or accredited Nursing Diploma
  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license
  • At least 4 years of recent clinical nursing experience
  • BSN currently in progress or willingness to complete a BSN within 3 years of hire
  • MSN satisfies the BSN requirement
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership and independent decision-making ability
  • Strong knowledge of professional nursing standards and clinical practices
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory and operational requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar productivity applications

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and operational oversight during assigned shifts
  • Serve as a senior nursing and administrative resource for hospital staff
  • Support safe, effective, and appropriate patient care throughout the organization
  • Make independent clinical and operational decisions when necessary
  • Provide staff with guidance regarding clinical practices, policies, and procedures
  • Coordinate patient admissions, placement, transfers, and continuity of care
  • Monitor patient flow throughout the hospital
  • Review admission status using established clinical criteria and organizational procedures
  • Collaborate with nursing, physicians, case management, and other departments to resolve placement and care coordination issues
  • Respond to emergency codes, rapid-response events, and other urgent clinical situations
  • Coordinate resources during significant clinical or operational events
  • Assume Incident Command responsibilities when appropriate until designated emergency management personnel arrive
  • Escalate significant incidents and patient concerns to appropriate leadership
  • Provide supervision, coaching, mentorship, and problem-solving support to staff
  • Assist clinical teams with complex patient-care and operational situations
  • Provide input regarding employee performance
  • Support corrective action processes when appropriate
  • Promote effective interdisciplinary communication and collaboration
  • Support quality and performance improvement initiatives
  • Maintain compliance with applicable state, federal, and accreditation requirements
  • Promote adherence to professional nursing standards and established clinical practices
  • Ensure significant patient, staffing, safety, and operational concerns are appropriately documented and escalated
