About The Position

Under the direction of the President of the College of Nursing and Deans of Student & Faculty Development, this role guides students during laboratory and clinical practice to use the nursing process while adhering to standards established by the State Nurse Practice Act, Code of Ethics for Nurses, ANA Standards of Care, and the mission, philosophy, policy and procedures of St. Elizabeth Medical Center or other designated facility. The position promotes the correlation of the biopsychosocial sciences and nursing theory to clinical practice, and creates opportunities for learners to develop multiperspectival critical thinking and reasoning skills. Responsibilities include managing tasks in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner, communicating progress to learners through consistent feedback, and collaborating in the development of a remediation plan when appropriate. The role utilizes a variety of strategies to evaluate learning in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains, and maintains the professional practice knowledge base needed to help learners prepare for contemporary nursing practice. Developing collegial working relationships with students, faculty colleagues, and clinical agency personnel is key to promoting a caring learning environment.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college.
  • Two years of clinical nursing practice
  • A minimum of one year of teaching experience.
  • Current licensure as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
  • Certification in C.P.R. at B.L.S. level.
  • Membership - New York State Nurses Association
