The responsibilities of the Professional Nursing Faculty are to develop a healthy and caring environment that offers a variety of opportunities for active participation by the students in the learning process. Major responsibilities of faculty include teaching, tutoring, and professional development. Essential functions include assisting in the development of the departmental course schedule, assigning, guiding, supervising, and evaluating student's performance in giving care to selected patients/ residents, completing instructor ATI training modules within specified time, and proctoring ATI exams. Performance reflects evidence of scholarship, evidence-based teaching and clinical practice. Faculty participate in enrollment management activities and sharing of professional expertise with colleagues and students beyond the classroom. They provide support and leadership for student recruitment, marketing, and activities that build a program within the clinical setting. Faculty support student activities, including course and career guidance, mentoring, graduations, and fostering a love of learning. They demonstrate procedures in the nursing skills laboratory, supervise student demonstrations, and evaluate student performances. Faculty orientate students to the clinical site and communicate clinical objectives to students and staff. They write anecdotal progress notes and clinical evaluations of student performance, and act as student advocates. Committee involvement includes student affairs, admissions selection, curriculum review, faculty advisory board, and evaluations and outcomes committees. Faculty maintain active membership and participation in professional associations and submit required forms and papers to the Registrar's Office within the specified timeframe. They maintain appropriate records of student performance and integrate theory with planned clinical performance. Faculty participate in student selection as members of the admissions committee and ensure College compliance with regulatory boards including licensure and accreditation.
