About The Position

Nursing Assistants work closely with nurses to provide excellent direct patient care, support patients with activities of daily living, and help prevent complications. This full-time role is based onsite at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, New York, on the 4 South Telemetry unit. The schedule consists of three 12-hour overnight shifts, 6:45 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with every other weekend and holidays as assigned. A mandatory week of Monday-through-Friday orientation from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. must be completed before starting on the unit. No travel is expected. The disclosed standard pay range is $19.47–$25.75 per hour, plus benefits.

Requirements

High school education or equivalent experience.
BLS; training will be provided if needed.
Complete one full week of mandatory orientation, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. before starting work on the unit.
Frequent use of hands and fingers, such as operating a computer keyboard.
Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch for work tasks.
Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods as required.
Ability to operate job-related equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

NYS Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA).
Previous patient care experience.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care, including toileting, ambulating, and repositioning patients.
Monitor and record fluid intake and output, patient weights, and vital signs.
Report abnormal findings or changes in patients’ conditions to the RN.
Reinforce patient education, including instruction on incentive spirometer use and fall prevention.
Maintain a clean and organized patient bedside area to support a safe workspace.
Intentionally round on each patient every hour.
