This 48-bed unit is dedicated to ortho/neuro/trauma, specializing in diagnoses such as total knee and hip replacements, spinal fusions, and fractured hips. The unit is Stroke and Trauma certified, with staff completing additional education every three months to enhance patient care. The multidisciplinary team includes RNs, nurse techs, nursing assistants, unit secretaries, PT/OT, an orthopedic care coordinator, and case managers. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:4-6, and the Nurse Assistant ratio is 1:8-10. Farmington Hills Hospital is recognized by U.S. News and World Report as a high-performing facility and is a Magnet-designated hospital for nursing excellence. It has grown into a Level II trauma center since 1965 and serves as the base teaching hospital for Michigan State University.
