Nursing Assistant PACU South Tower
About The Position
This role involves providing care to post-surgical orthopaedic and neuro patients of all ages, including those with orthopaedic joints, sports medicine, spine, tumor, trauma, and foot and ankle conditions, as well as neurosurgery of the brain and spine. The position is within an inpatient and outpatient PACU with a separate Preop area. The Nursing Assistant will provide care according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include safe transport of patients, dispatch services, documentation, acting as an Observer for patients requiring constant observation, and performing general receptionist and clerical duties. Care provided will be documented in the electronic medical record.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required
- Current CNA certification preferred
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.
- Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety.
- Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
- Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.
