Nursing Assistant PACU South Tower
About The Position
The Nursing Assistant provides care to patients according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The role includes safely transporting patients by wheelchair or stretcher, coordinating dispatch services, and documenting services. The Nursing Assistant may serve as an Observer for patients assessed as requiring constant observation, in person or through remote video monitoring, to support patient safety. The position also performs receptionist and clerical duties and documents care in the electronic medical record. The role is based in the South Tower’s Pre/Post Recovery department at Royal Oak Hospital. The unit cares for post-surgical orthopaedic and neuro patients of all ages, including patients undergoing orthopaedic joint, sports medicine, spine, tumor, trauma, foot and ankle, and brain and spine neurosurgery procedures. Care is provided in inpatient and outpatient PACU settings, with a separate Preop area.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification required.
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
- Current CNA certification preferred.
