About The Position

The Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nursing Assistant, also referred to as a Med-Surg Tele PCU Nursing Assistant, provides basic patient care, monitors vital signs, supports patient mobility, and helps ensure patient safety. The role serves adults recovering from surgeries or illnesses while they are on heart monitors. Nursing Assistants observe patients, report changes, and help maintain a safe, supportive environment that promotes recovery.

Requirements

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire is preferred.
• Current BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current certification.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate.
• At least six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
• Take and record blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation.
• Help patients get in and out of bed, walk, and use assistive devices.
• Ensure telemetry monitors are properly connected and functioning; alert registered nurses when monitor alarms sound.
• Observe patients for physical changes, such as shortness of breath, chest pain, or altered mental status, and promptly notify nursing staff.
