About The Position

As a Nursing Assistant at Glendive Medical Center (GMC), a Critical Access Hospital serving eastern Montana and western North Dakota, you will play a crucial role in supporting patients through direct care, teamwork, and hands-on comfort measures. Requirements

  • Dependable, punctual, and consistent attendance.
  • Strong prioritization and time-management skills.
  • Ability to use de-escalation techniques with agitated patients.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
  • Nursing Assistant course completion or equivalent within 6 months of hire.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, climb stairs, and respond quickly in emergencies.
  • Must safely lift/move up to 50 lbs using proper technique and lift equipment.
  • Prolonged periods of physical activity.
  • Ability to manage physical and emotional stress.
  • Potential exposure to common hospital environmental risks.
  • Essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Prior hospital experience preferred.
  • CNA License or Medical Assistant License preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal hygiene, bathing, grooming, toileting, and skin care checks.
  • Support mobility needs, including repositioning, transfers, ambulation, and ROM exercises.
  • Ensure clean gowns, fresh bedding, and tidy rooms.
  • Assist with meals, feed patients as needed, and provide fresh water and nourishment.
  • Obtain vital signs, I&Os, heights, weights, and collect specimens.
  • Assist with nonsterile dressings, surgical preps, ice/heat therapy, enemas, and other delegated tasks.
  • Support point-of-care testing, collect EKGs, and place patients on cardiac monitors.
  • Round frequently and respond promptly to call lights.
  • Maintain safe environments and competent, caring interactions.
  • Provide dignified end-of-life and post-mortem care.
  • Communicate clearly with nursing staff and provide thorough end-of-shift reports.
  • Participate in the orientation of new employees and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Complete additional duties such as stocking supplies, checking warmers, and general workspace upkeep.
  • Follow incident reporting and chain-of-command procedures.
  • Attend unit meetings and educational opportunities for continuous growth.
