About The Position

The Nursing Assistant assists nursing staff in providing patient care, to include procedures that monitor body functions, transportation and movement of patients, set-up and maintenance of equipment, maintaining sanitary and neat conditions as other related duties. The Nursing Assistant is under the direction and supervision of the RN/LPN with implementation of nursing care to accomplish the goals and mission of LifeCare Medical Center. All job duties will be performed and documented according to established policies of OSHA, EPA, JCAHO, federal, state and local agencies, as well as the guidelines of LifeCare Medical Center. Requirements

  • completion of nurse aide trainign program and active on teh MN nursing assistant registry
  • BLS certification
  • basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • excellent multi-tasking and prioritizing skills
  • excellent communication & interpersonal skills
  • ability to work well with others
  • good critical thinking skills

Nice To Haves

  • 2 or more experience working as a CNA, preferred
  • experience with use of electronic medical record, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary and ambulating, turning, and positioning patients; and providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
  • Provides adjunct care by administering, ice packs, heat treatments, sitz and therapeutic baths
  • Watches for and reports early changes in patient condition to nurse.
  • Maintains patient stability by checking vital signs and weight; recording intake and output information.
  • Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients’ call lights and requests; and reporting observations of the patient to the RN/LPN
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information
  • Understands facility infection prevention and control policies and procedures and demonstrates proper hand hygiene, transmission-based precautions, standard precautions, equipment and environmental cleaning
  • Adheres to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures; federal, state, and local requirements; and JCAHO standards.
  • Collect specimens and transport to lab.
  • Accurately documents ADLs, tasks, and observations in the HER
