About The Position

The Nursing Assistant (NA) assists nursing personnel with patient-care activities and related services that support the personal needs and comfort of patients in an outpatient setting. The NA works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and serves as a caregiver to patients during scheduled work periods. The position is in Outpatient Surgery, GI & Pain Procedures, with a Monday–Friday daytime schedule of eight-hour shifts and no weekends or holidays.

Requirements

Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
If working in North Dakota and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, be listed on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry after training and competency validation or within a maximum of four months from initial employment.
If working in Wisconsin, be listed on the Wisconsin Nurse Aid Registry with current work eligibility.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
At least six months of experience is preferred.
Clinic-setting experience is preferred.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with clinical duties as delegated, within role responsibilities, training, competencies, and the needs of the outpatient setting.
Assist with taking patients’ vital signs and record vital statistics and other basic health information.
Maintain stocks of medical supplies needed by nurses or physicians.
Complete assigned patient-care duties and delegated tasks or treatments.
Assist with basic health care needs, including rooming patients and supporting daily living, emotional, and spiritual needs.
Collect non-invasive biological specimens from patients as needed.
Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient care.
Prepare patient treatment areas and medical equipment for use; clean equipment and patient areas or treatment rooms; and dispose of biomedical waste according to standards and policy.
