About The Position

Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation is hiring a per diem/PRN Nursing Assistant for its inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Chester, New Jersey. The hospital provides care to people facing medical, physical, emotional, and vocational challenges related to brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputation, and multiple trauma. The role is scheduled for either day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, including weekday and weekend shifts. Compensation is $23.50 per hour plus shift differential.

The Nursing Assistant supports patients with vital-sign collection, personal care, meals, safe positioning and mobility, call-light responses, and transportation. The position includes an orientation program and potential advancement to full-time opportunities. Per diem employees may be eligible for a company-matching 401(k) after meeting the stated hours requirement.

Requirements

• Certified BLS, or completion of BLS within the first 90 days of employment.
• Work four shifts per six-week schedule, including one Saturday or Sunday shift and one Winter/Summer holiday shift.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, height, weight, and demographic data.
• Assist patients with personal and daily care, including bathing, oral hygiene, shaving, and hair care.
• Deliver meals and snacks, feed patients who cannot feed themselves, and document oral intake, including supplements.
• Turn and position immobile patients safely while maintaining proper body alignment, and participate in the mobility program.
• Answer patient call lights and perform services that support patients’ physical well-being.
• Transport patients to designated areas, including to and from treatment centers.
