About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Nursing Assistants play a central role in delivering compassionate care to patients during vulnerable periods. The position is full-time on the night shift, with 12-hour shifts, in Des Moines, Iowa. Compensation is $18.00–$21.94 per hour, depending on years of experience. The hospital provides an extensive orientation program and opportunities for career development, including a clinical ladder program, an RN scholarship, tuition reimbursement, and continuing education.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

Hospital experience as a nursing assistant.
Nursing assistant certification.
Experience in a related field, such as medical assisting or being actively enrolled as an RN student.

Responsibilities

Provide patient services including bathing with basin-less bath products, oral hygiene, oral feeding, and hair care.
Participate in hourly rounds.
Transport patients to and from treatment centers as needed and assist transporters with moving patients into and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.
Clean instruments and equipment such as bedpans, urinals, and wheelchairs.
Keep patient rooms clean and orderly.
Maintain unit stock levels of supplies and equipment as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
