About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Nursing Assistants provide compassionate care to patients during vulnerable stages of recovery. The position is based inside ChristianaCare Wilmington in Wilmington, Delaware, and is per diem on the day shift, with 12-hour shifts. Compensation is $24.00 per hour, with additional differentials for weekends. The employer offers an extensive orientation program and the possibility of advancement to full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) eligibility after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Hospital experience as a nursing assistant, nursing assistant certification, or experience in a related field such as medical assisting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care services, including bathing with basin-less bath products, oral hygiene, oral feeding, and hair care.
• Participate in hourly rounds.
• Transport patients to and from treatment centers as needed, and assist transporters with moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.
• Maintain the cleanliness of instruments and equipment, including bedpans, urinals, and wheelchairs.
• Keep patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
• Maintain unit stock levels of supplies and equipment as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
