About The Position

The Nursing Assistant performs assigned patient care tasks and other related unit duties as defined and delegated under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse or Licensed Professional Nurse. The position is part of the Nurse Floats team at Garnet Health Medical Center Middletown. The role involves working with patients in varied circumstances and collaborating with team members. The work environment is a clean, well-lighted, heated or ventilated facility, with no routine exposure to hazards. The position may involve irregular hours, including evenings or potentially weekends, as operational and community events require.

Requirements

Completion of a recognized Nursing Assistant Program or equivalent preparation and/or experience.
Current and ongoing BLS certification.
Internal Crisis Intervention training.
Ability to pass a pre-hire physical assessment.
Ability to perform the physical tasks of the job, including prolonged standing and walking, lifting, positioning, pushing, and transferring patients, and reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
Ability to perform the full anatomical range of motion needed to accomplish tasks.
Visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
Ability to lift 10 pounds.
Ability to foster collaborative relationships, work well under pressure, organize and synthesize information, prioritize tasks, and demonstrate critical thinking, analytical skills, flexibility, and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and be sensitive to customer needs and expectations.

Nice To Haves

High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.
One year of prior acute care experience, or CNA status, or completion of the first clinical course in an RN/LPN program.
CNA certificate if experience is minimal.
