About The Position

The Nursing Assistant works alongside physicians and nurses to facilitate advanced primary and specialty nursing services. The role supports patients through activities such as bathing, serving meals, transportation, administering medication, and positioning. The Nursing Assistant helps ensure a positive experience for patients and families through alertness, collaboration, teamwork, and a positive attitude.

This is a per diem night position in Telemetry at Atlantic Health Newton Medical Center, with a stated shift of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0–3 years of experience as a Nursing Assistant, in patient care, or in another related field, with demonstrated increased responsibility in the healthcare industry.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained before the start date.

Responsibilities

• Support nursing personnel in providing direct patient care and assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Serve and collect food trays and provide between-meal nourishment.
• Change bed linen, run errands, and prepare and sterilize treatment trays and supplies.
• Measure and record patients’ vital signs, such as temperature or pulse, and meal intake, and provide basic treatment.
• Ensure a safe care environment for patients and their families.
• Perform continuous rounds and check-ins throughout the shift to ensure patient and family needs are met.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
