About The Position
The Louisiana Veterans Homes serve Louisiana’s veteran population by providing medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services with respect and compassion. The Jackson, Louisiana Veterans Home is hiring a Certified Nursing Assistant 1 or 2 to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans and support their physical and mental well-being. This is a full-time position. Depending on experience, the vacancy may be filled at the Nursing Assistant 1 or Nursing Assistant 2 level. Work hours are 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM or 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM, with alternate weekends. The salary is determined by qualifications and experience. The CNA 1 special entrance rate is $13.74 per hour and the CNA 2 special entrance rate is $14.70 per hour, plus shift differentials and premium pay of $3.00 per hour worked.
Requirements
- Six months of experience or training in patient care, or a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate, or completion of an accredited Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing, Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician program.
- A current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate is required for positions at facilities receiving certain Medicaid or Medicare funds.
Responsibilities
- Assist with documenting new-patient admissions in the medical record.
- Provide patient care, including ambulating, feeding, bathing, positioning, and lifting.
- Sterilize equipment and supplies.
- Measure and record patients’ temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, and weight in the medical record.
