About The Position
Nursing Assistants work closely with nurses to provide direct patient care, support patients’ activities of daily living, and help prevent complications. This position is onsite at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, New York, and is part-time. The schedule is two 12-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend and holidays as assigned. Mandatory orientation consists of one full week, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., before starting on the unit. No travel is expected.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent experience.
- BLS; training will be provided if needed.
Nice To Haves
- NYS Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA).
- Previous patient care experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including toileting, ambulating, and repositioning patients.
- Monitor and record fluid intake and output and patient weight.
- Obtain vital signs and report abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to the RN.
- Reinforce patient education, including incentive spirometer use and fall prevention.
- Maintain a clean and organized patient bedside area to ensure a safe workspace.
- Intentionally round on each patient every hour.
